An optimist sees opportunities in every calamity; A pessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity – Winston Churchill

From its inception in February 15, 2016 ,Birth and Beyond – ASSAMEH team  has already received and treated 312 patients ; and here is the count:
  -213 Lebanese children taken in charge by the ministry of health,
  -4 other Lebanese children taken in charge by the F.S.I General Security,
  -40 Lebanese children covered by the Lebanese army,
  -4 children financed by CAP-HO , an independent NGO ,
  -16 other Lebanese children who personally paid for their own treatment.
We also welcomed, 24 Syrians taken in charge by the U.N.H.C.R, 7 Palestinians covered by the U.N.R.W.A, a child from Malaga financed by Caritas, and finally 3 other children with undetermined nationalities.
The average duration of the stay of these children ranged from 2 to 46 days.

Such commitment provided us with adequate facilities that can insure  our babies to receive the right level of specialized care. Thus receiving more ,
Most of these patients presented more or less severe cases like :
-acute gastro-enteritis, bronchiolitis, epilepsy, respiratory distress, severe
dehydration, Renal insufficiency, Peritoneal and Hemodialysis, Pneumonia,
congenital malformations, prematurity, Ictyosis, metabolic diseases Jaundice
and minor surgery cases.

We also faced other rare cases like :
-Meningitis, snakebite, Pleural effusion, Cytic fibrosis, Ascites, Mediastinitis,   Poisoning, Cardiac diseases, Sepsis, Neurologic diseases, Encephalitis and
severe cellulitis.

Many  of these children were subject to surgical interventions due to one of the following diagnosis :
-Hypospadias, VATS, anal imperforation, abdominal occlusion, bone marrow
aspiration, muscle biopsy, circumcision, esophageal atresia, liver biopsy and diaphragmatic hernia.
